Conflicting Disguises Haunting My Past

[Angelic lead faces
Surrounded by rays of hair
As they haunt the hazy dark
And the murderess moon stares back with hollow eyes
Gray translucent clouds dab the sky-
A sea of ink spilt over the twilight horizon
--Erase the remains
(The things I still feel for you..)
Air so still-almost quiet
It makes me hold my breath--
Waiting for the fog to finally part.
Paper glides across my white skin
--Pale as the midnight snow
I’ve been locked up too long-
(By the arms that hold me close
--The hands that hurt me so..)
Crimson blood--over my skin and clothing..
A dark stain reminiscent of you
--A memory tainting my mind--
Cursing me to never forget.
And I hide behind the facade of emotions--
(Won't let you in--not this time)
Bringing evidence with me
For no bare eye to see
I glance out the worn window
--Looking into my past
Only to be thrust back into the present
Where my life is but a lie
And my heart lies in your palm
As you tug me along again
I quietly follow with little resistance--
A silent pleading dies in my throat
Words of resentment on my tongue
Only to stay there as I swallow them alive
--Never to reach your ears
I long to leave and yet I stay
Hoping-wishing-
For things that can never be.
A ring of insanity wrapped around my finger
I remove it
Only to replace it with hatred-regret
I’m just a pebble in your shoe
Waiting to be tossed again
Into the black pond
--Where we first met.
Ripples circling in the water
My distorted reflection
-- staring back at me
Teardrops fall down my cheeks
Crystalline diamonds
-- disappearing in the murky darkness.
