A Rotting Eden
300 years after the Apocalypse came and went, the survivors join wandering gangs called Tribes in a bid for survival in a world without nations. This is the story of one man's struggle in one of the last remaining cities on Earth.
Aramis is sitting in his bed, his wrists banaged tighly.
He stares out of the window with a blank, emotionless stare, his bandaged hands crossed over his lap. A blanket is carefully tucked up to his waist, and his hair is still tied back into a ponytail. The clear blue sky reflects peacefully over his blue eye, while his green one gives off the color of the Shaudrese ocean. A man is sitting at the edge of his bed, a man vaguely familiar. His somewhat long black hair, untamed and wild, gives off the appearance of the man having a crown of thorns, and his haunting white eyes stare at Aramis with a sort of passive anger.

"That was stupid," the man says in his unplacable accent. That's right--this man is Reckless. Funny, how things turn out. "You try and pull a stunt like that again and I'll make sure your life is over, do you understand me?"

"Save your threats for someone who has a problem with dying," Aramis replies weakly, his gaze never wavering from the opened window.

Reckless seems disarmed as he turns away from Aramis, looking down at the floor. "I'll say this in a way that matters to you," he begins. "You can't die until I get back to Gemini. It's in the contract. You wouldn't want your reputation to suffer, would you?"

"And what reputation would that be?" Aramis asks, annoyed.

"That of a professional," Reckless counters quickly. "Now cut that out. You know I'm not the type to play stupid little games with you. I need you to hurry up and get well enough to escort me back to Gemini without incident. There is no way I can risk making the trip alone."

Aramis doesn't answer. Instead, he continues to stare out of the window at everything, nothing. It didn't really matter. He reaches his hand over to Reckless, letting it fall, palm-up, towards him. Reckless makes a disgusted face, having half a mind to slap it away. Instead, however, he places his hand in the young man's. "...Get better," Reckless half-whispers, sounding more like a warning rather than a request. "I can't make this trip without you."

And just like that, Reckless stands up, squares his shoulders, and heads out the door. There's a slight sense of relief in the room, and Aramis seems to feel it, too. Things have been strained between Reckless and himself, and although it still isn't clear why, it is evident that some sort of progress has been made.
