Sellback looks like its broken right now. That's bad because I have a few things that I need to sell to the store. It's good because now some people are selling below sellback in the marketplace. I'm confident that sellback will be fixed soon, so I'm stocking up on those underpriced items. Or at least some of them. I know my gold is pretty limited, so I'm sticking to the cheaper ones. I should still make a few k when sellback's back.
Some people see buying below sellback as a pretty bad thing. Plenty of people do it; I've even seen a mod go after some items. But maybe people feel guilty about it, too, because I've seen a few of the sellback hunters (like me) go and help out in the Q&F. Our way of making up for our slightly shady buying methods? Who knows.
I only tend to tell people about sellback in the Exchange, not the Marketplace, and I'm picky about who I tell in the Exchange. Sorry, but some people just need to learn a lesson in thinking and manners. In the Marketplace, it's too impersonal to really care. 'sides that, I know from my Exchange experience that some people actually do know about sellback, but they put the starting bid below that anyways.
In the end, buying below sellback is a fairly risk-free way to make gold. Problems only occur when the admins give only a few hours warning for a sellback change or, like now, when sellback's broken. You can't withdraw bids in the marketplace, so sellback changes screw anyone who's bid on an item that doesn't expire for days.
