Ranting about Gaia mostly, why? Cause I can't talk about real life
Buyouts don't work, eh?
Have a look at the current price (and watch it the next week or so) for the Katanas. And have a look at Tektek's market log:

Recent 17,999
29 August 2006 17,600
28 August 2006 14,000
27 August 2006 14,700
26 August 2006 13,500

24 August 2006 10,000
23 August 2006 10,000

21 August 2006 9,255
20 August 2006 9,095
19 August 2006 9,000

That's just ten days. Ten days and the price doubled. As I said, watch to see if it sticks, and also, while you're at it, have a laugh at how many Dark Halos were for sale today. I counted 8, and they all ranged from 40k+. When I checked again all the 40k range ones were gone and the 100k+ remained. If that isn't a buyout, I don't know what is. There was at least 2 pages before this buyout. I also have logs for some of the Halo sales, proving that people bought them up as a buyout or foolishly thinking it was going to stay that high. Panic buying and buyouts. Wonderful economy you have here.

Not even the Kiki Kitty went up that fast. But you know what's even worse than artifical inflation? This:

Yes, folks, that was made by someone on the admins' team, check the URL of the picture. Even though they were quoted as saying artificial inflation "sucks," they still support it very much so.

And to think, I used to call it a genius idea to get donations from people by giving them pixel items in return. But the minute you start milking the ca$h cow every chance you get you lose my respect.

"Oh boo hoo, it keeps Gaia running and you love this site so why are you complaining? You're just jealous." Nah, just bring out the quest system already and they can earn that respect back. It will solve all of the problems and put an end to all the complaining and people being ripped off.

But I think they are talking about when the price of an item is too high very early on and does not stablize. the graph is more of a gradual increase over time rather than artificial inflation (which shouldn't last too long).

Funny! I kept thinking of the quest system when reading your entry. X3~

I hope the quest system will be exactly what it's designed to do.

I don't remember KiKis ever costing 3k rofl Lose and fail on whoever made that.

And it seems to me more like it's trying to tell the user to buy items as soon as they can if they want them? confused That way they won't have to cry about how much the item is later down the road...

Hi again Sevi and Sephy. That sounds cool.

Artificial inflation does last though, that's the problem. So far the Katanas and Halos are staying, and even going up. A few users can affect the market by working together. Whatever they spent, they'll resell all those items in a few weeks for nearly double their expenses. Katanas for example, buy for 9-13k, sell for 18k two weeks later. Major guaranteed profit, even IF the prices go back down later, they already sold all their stock. It's win-win, I almost love it it's so disgustingly easy to get rich that way lol

That graph basically just shows that "its lyk awwsum 2 don8 2 gaia cuz u can make lots of gold lol" Heh. People think it's a good idea because they can see what happened before, it's trying to draw them in. They know it works, and we have more and more proof all the time. Ninja headbands? Who has to sell it for 200k? Raise the price and people will buy it. There's absolutely no incentive to sell lower, higher WILL sell. Everybody jump on the bandwagon! Hurray!

And yeah, Seph, they are kinda saying to get it sooner rather than later, but I'd prefer they say, "Can't afford an item? Go on a Quest for it!" and give everyone a chance to get an item. RUSH RUSH RUSH, BUY BUY BUY, GOLD GOLD GOLD! is annoying. Gaians are great at buying on impulse, so they need no prodding xp

(Kikis, they went from 5k letters as I recall, to 7k opened, then never went down, they just kept climbing to 30k, then 50k, then 100k. The 3k thing was a joke in the comic once, I think it was Moira who said that).
