below will be what i've workshopped in my waking hours:
so ran has authority issues (so she says, and seeing her truancy count, i agree...) so she's like i guess i'll go into command and order everyone else around (i feel like her tendency to order her students to do laps as mathemagic prof originated from the whole push-ups as punishment thing shishou did; there's some sort of revenge?? or schadefreude feeling with it); also science b/c her surveys and quasi-science experiments

tom will be communications b/c he's the face,, the charm;
amby can really only be security; i don't think he cares enough to be command so uh

jassy might go into med? as a nurse or smthg; idk how her pyro tendencies will play with that... stare

didn't really figure out others but ehh;;
also amby sometimes gets mistaken for a vulcan despite his lack of pointy ears; it's his blandness i guess. also how he wears an actual dress lol
