"I told you to never date my sister", the words [sputter] around in my head which I tried to catch. I remembered something else was said. [Digging into my mind] [listening for] what was said when we first discussed this. The ambient bass rolls and car resonates in response, a song has just come on I turn down the volume.
"You never said that," I paused thinking, needing a witty response. "You asked me never to have sex with her." Which was true, I'd never do this. I attempted to read his face for success. He turns, stairs off blankly. It's very hard to read him, a game he's good at, like playing cat and mouse with what he's actually thinking. Worst of all is that poker face.
He does something, a shuffling of his belt or a twist of the pants, like a martial artist. "I told you to never get involved with my family like that".
Thinking shuffling in my seat feeling like [a kid in the principles office/or/ a driver caught speeding by a cop.] Choosing my words carefully. "I understand. An we are not dating. I only took her to the movies nothing happened." He wont hear this.
