You are my best friend,
You were always kind to me.
But to be struck down,
At age sixteen,
Is truely the work of Ki*.
I will find The Warmth** to cure you,
To save your life,
Even if it means ending mine.
But I must repay my debt,
The one I have owed you for so long,
But of which,
You never knew.
This letter I write,
With no intention of sending,
For this is your epitath,
Should I not return.
This poem is from a book I am writing. Ceilidh is the main character's best friend. Kurro wrote this poem for her, with the hopes that it would be found and used for her friend's epitath in case she failed to find the only thing that could cure her disease called The Cold which Ceilidh catches in the beginning of the story.
*KI- The God of Evil. He is the one that created The Cold over 500 years ago.
**THE WARMTH- The Warmth is the only thing that can cure The Cold, but no one has ever found it. Kurro goes off to find it to save Ceilidh.
