"Let me go." she said as she tore her wrist away from his tight grasp. Amber held her wrist with her other hand, rubbing it as she backed away from the man in front of her. He took a step toward her but she stopped him in his tracks, screaming, "Don't you dare come any closer. Go away. I hate you."
"Amber." His voice was soft and pleading, but more than that, it sounded guilty to Amber's ears. "Calm down. Please. You have to listen to me."
Amber shook her head. "There isn't anything you can say. I don't want to hear it, John. Just go. I don't want to see your face again."
John attempted another step towards her, his hand reach out to her, but stopped with his arm in mid-air. He stared at her as she tried to stop the tears that rolled down her face. And as he stared into the face of a brokenhearted woman, he knew that there really wasn't anything he could do to fix things. "I'm sorry." he said, turned and walked out the door he had entered from.
