I am running through this maze of selfish fears
Wondering where you are and if you care after all these years
I hit one dead end and stop
I can't do this anymore; my heart just stopped.
Lies; oh the lies
Crush down on me from every side
And I lie down as I cry for help
That I know will never come
Shadows dance along the walls
Of these dark and cold halls
Where light can never reach
No, not even one ray will ever breach
But as I walk these steps, these steps
A voice calls down from the sky, the sky
"Come here!!!" It cries, it cries
I turn and run away, run away
And it still calls for me
Can it not see?
I am filthy, dirty, untouchable
No pure thing may ever lick my hands
A pretty woman walks by me
I cower at her brightness
She turns, can you see her?!!!
Can you?!!!
And she touches my skin
Oh! It burns!!!
Her tender touch is like a cleansing fire
And it burns away all of my cruel desires
I fall to my knees, my knees
And cry a thousand tears, thousand tears
For I have never felt such warmth, such warmth
And I feel my black heart heal, it heals
"God, oh God!" I cry
He is there, staring me in the eye
"Yes, my child?" He says
I lay down and cry again
And He gives me His warmth
And I am alive now
I no longer walk those shallow halls
Where light may never reach
I am His servant, and he is my Master
He layeth me down in green pastures
And I will fear no Evil
For He is there
