Valentine's day is fabled to have started back in one of those wars. I think it was the nazi war, but somehow that doesn't seem right.
Anyways, some one banned certain people from getting married. A priest, with a name of Valentine, married couples without the government body knowing. So he would marry all these couples in secrecy, untill one day, they found out. They found and hung him for his "treason".
The day he was hung, is known as Valentine's day. Couples celebrate their right to be together.
Another story I heard, was that some guy named Valentine, sent a letter to his beloved, and made a public announcement, and other people did it to impress the women they loved. And thus, Valentine's day.
There are quite a few stories.
