High
Middle of the night
And I can’t sleep
Passing the time
Watching the second hand tick.
The moments pass by
Until there’s light in the sky
Starting another
Sleep deprived day.
My thoughts are muddy
My vision blurred
Eye lids are heavy
And a look of concern.
A glance in the mirror reveals
Pale skin and blood shot eyes.
I’m falling apart
No friends, no family
All because last night
I had to get high.
