There has to be a test of it floating around someplace to determine how wankanese or a person of a different culture is so enthralled and has adapted to the Japanese culture.
I will admit I like pocky, only the Almond Crush and chocolate mousse caramel flavors.
And Ramune soda, only peach and strawberry.
I eat sushi, but my mother got me hooked on that long before I got into anime or knew anything about Japan except for what I learned in school. Not to mention having such a love for cooking I want to try all sorts of foods from all over (that doesn't turn my stomach).
Yeah I like anime, I'll watch both sub and dubbed versions without a care. I'm not a big manga collector. If there is a figurine of a character that I like I'll get it, but I won't have a lot of them. At most I have four articles of Asian style inspired clothing.
I don't know the honorifics or really any of the phrases, I don't speak or throw japanese words into my vocabulary. I do that with the bit of French that I remember from class.
I have a set of mock japanese swords because one I like blades and two they were on sale and they're blue. ^^
I don't like yuri, green tea is overrated, yes I go to conventions because they tend to have things I can't find elsewhere and can buy without having to pay a shipping and handling fee. Mainly videogames and what few mangas I wish to buy.
I buy cellphone straps and put it on my cell because thanks to the bells I can remember easier where I had left it.
I will and wish to collect anything Studio Ghibli.
I don't like the fact that I can seen anime influences in my drawing.
And just like I like dressing up for Halloween I'd like to cosplay.
So I guess in the end it's not about a person posing to be something else, it just all depends on what the person likes. Believe me I'm not going to run around telling you what is and isn't done in the Japanese culture. I barely know what's up in my own.
