Could skin care products really be harmful to your health?
by Aimee- FN85 -SUNDAY in Health & Beauty
There are chemicals used in skin care products which could potentially be harmful to the body if used in excess. Usually people do not react to the chemicals in the products because there isn't enough o do much damage, however it is possible for some people to have a reaction, it all depends upon the person.
Lanolin for example, is usually in a lot of products, though some have taken it out now due to its natural effect as an allergen. However, it is created from a sheep's wool, and often the sheep have been subjected to pesticides and insecticides which can sometimes be present within the Lanolin. Whilst there is only a small chance that this will happen, it does still happen and so it can be potentially harmful to the skin.
Overall, all chemicals have the potential to be harmful but usually our skin care products do not cause many problems. You could always switch to using homemade, natural remedies however if it would make you feel safer. That way you know what you are putting on your skin!
Yes, they can. The body reacts in different ways to different chemicals and preparations. You would be well advised to have an allergy test if you are unsure, otherwise use the test sets offered in many stores and see how your skin reacts over a short period of time.
