Lips Laced with Poison Even when everything seems normal nothing really is. That's what makes the day worthwhile.

Steampunk
I can't do gothic, I can't do punk, or any version of it, it's just not me, and I can't really do lolita or the goth-loli although according to a lot of people I look to be 14-15 instead of 22 going on 23. Is it the way that I dress, how I carry myself or is it just the way that I look? I don't know but I'm getting off track.

It's not just about the fashion, when you do something just for the fashion in a way you are posing. You are only going but skin deep. And I do not wish to be like that. So I know that there is a reason why I can not pull off these looks.

But then there was something I was somewhat always into but could never tap into it properly I could never figure it out. I had a taste of it thanks to the Back to the Future 3 movie but the movie magic made me think otherwise. But then I discovered the answer to what it is that I like via a webcomic called Girl Genius. Girl Genius lead me from one thing onto another.

It is called Steampunk. If you are reading this do not just go look it up on wikipedia Perhaps a real steampunker did write that article but it seems they've barely scratched the surface or in a way it's like an observer looking at it through a glass window. They only see it not feel it, not hear it, not experience it it. That article lacks the passion although it is full of information.

This is steampunk in the words from a steampunk magazine.
Quote:
"Steampunk is a re-envisioning of the past with the hyper-technological perceptions of the present....steampunk is a non-Luddite critique of technology.... It revels in the concrete reality of technology instead of the over-analytical abstractions of cybernetics.... Authentic steampunk seeks to take the levers of technology from those technocrats who drain it of both its artistic and real qualities, who turn the living monsters of technology into the simpering servants of meaningless commodity..... Ours is not the culture of Neo-Victorianism and stupefying etiquette, not remotely an escape to gentleman's clubs and classist rhetoric. It is the green fairy of delusion and passion unleashed from her bottle, stretched across the glimmering gears of rage."

Quote:

I believe that Steampunk is more than just brass and watchparts. It's finding a way to combine the past and the future in an aesthetic pleasing yet still punkish way. It's living a life that looks old-fashioned, yet speaks to the future. It's taking the detritus of our modern technological society and remaking it into useful things. Join me as I search for items for my house that combine the scientific romanticism of the Victorians with our real present and imagined future.

It's beautiful. It's amazing. Just like the ages that inspires it the old mixing with the new, the past that dreamed and invented like mad scientists with an IV of Red Bull pulsing through their veins mixing with the present it is ever going, ever evolving hindered only by the imaginations of the people. How it is that many others have not found of this is surprising but it isn't as small as it appears, this 'trend' no culture is ever growing in popularity Just they haven't hit the mainstream as much as the aboved mentioned. But soon it will battle it out to stand it's place and be divided from the labels of gothic or punk-goth as I'm sure it will be confused with. The different types of Steampunk will make itself known.

And the thing is I want to be along for that ride.
