You never realize just how long that hallway is until you're traveling alone. The tiles seem to lengthen with every step. The ceilings seem to grow to new heights you can't even imagine. The walls seem to condense around you, closing you in, suffocating you. Those doors at the end are but a mere speck in your vision--almost nonexistent, like a flake of dust to be blown away, effortlessly, without a sound.
No accompanyment.
No outside voices.
No soft ticking of time.
...Nothing.
Nothing but you...and silence, holding its breath.
There is no end to this path. Does that mean your suffering is endless? Has time stopped completely all around you? The whole universe has reached absolute zero, leaving everything frozen, locked.
Still.
The only things moving...are your heart...and your feet.
What'll it be, child?
Will you march to the tempo of your pulse, or become a statue carved into time forever?
...
There's no way in Hell I'm going to just freeze. I've come too far to turn back now. This journey will never be for naught. I have too much at stake. Just keep pushing forward, and everything will be alright...
