Hanging By A Moment
She's hanging by a moment, suspended in time
Watching from the window, thoughts lost in her mind
The rain patters gently, a comforting sound
Falling from the heavens, splashing on the ground
A hurricane of questions, overwhelms her brain
Yet it only took one to drive her insane
All that was needed was a simple yes or no
Instead she had mumbled that she had to go
Etched in her mind was the memory of his face
When she'd hurried away as if running a race
The hurt and confusion in his eyes was so clear
How could she have hurt someone so dear
She heard a door open and the sound of footsteps
So she braced herself for his outburst of upset
In a flurry of raindrops and wind from outside
He came rushing in like a great ocean tide
"Darling, I'm sorry i scared you so bad
It's just you're the best thing in life I've had
But I'll wait for you sweetheart, you just take your time
I'll be hanging by a moment 'til you give me the sign"
She took in his appearance, his eyes full of hope
He was asking for her love, not rushing to elope
She knew then and there what her answer would be
And surprised, even herself, by dropping to one knee
"You're all that i want honey, out of this life
So please do me the honor of making me your wife"
He gave a smile she hadn't realised she'd missed
"Nothing would make me happier." He smiled with a kiss
