Yet another boring day ahead of me, Nothing to amuse myself.
Did mediocre chores to keep my mind active while watching my younger simpler sibling. He's sucking away right now at freezer pops and squeeing at the Harry Potter movie. I swear His eyes are becoming joined to the television set, it's almost disturbing how his eyes becomes so glazed as he stares, and I'm just waiting for the day that he sprouts rabbit ears out of the top of his head.
I've tried multiple times to get him into reading, but school stresses too much on required reading and not that much on leisurely reading... hence he has a hate for it. Reading isn't for pleasure, so he thinks, it's for homework.
My attempts have gone from introducing him to short chapter books like goosebumbs, to just simple graphic novels.
Both of them he pushes away. Amazing now how even pretty pictures that once lured children to read suddenly have no affect.
Eventually I hope he'll grow out of this rejection of reading as the school system lightens up on it when he grows older. Reading I'm sure would satiate his hunger for amusement(which I think television could never do) and work wonders on his now faltering ways to express himself.
*snort* Hn, Time for me to do more chores. Things left untidy make me uncomfortable.
