• I admit I can’t remember
Just what happened on that day.
But that won’t destroy the meaning
Of the words that I will say.

    Please, I implore you, remember.
Take a moment, stop to mourn
The loss of many innocents, all
Gone before they could be warned.

Perhaps the world stopped its turning
    Honestly, I can believe
That and many other things a-
bout this day on which I grieve.

Life is brief, I don’t think we can
    Understand that ‘till it’s gone
    But if we always remember
These lost souls, might they live on?

Often I cry when I remember
All that happened on that day.
Even though I was quite young, that
Won’t exempt me from the fray.

    Take a moment to remember,
Whether you are young or old.
The day we don’t will be the day that
Human hearts will have gone cold.

    In Memoriam
