• The days are cold and dreams are white,
We’re drifting off to sleep tonight.
We watch the world around us freeze
    In perfectly sculpted effigies.
As the snow falls in the silence,
    We forget fear, forget violence.

The wind carries the hope of escape
And trapped in the ice are ghosts of better days.
The air is silent and full of gray light
The sky is dark, but our world is bright.
Frost falls upon our snow-covered dreams
Of a world so silent that it’s bursting at the seams.

Through the storm we run, with nothing left to prove.
There’s no way we can win, but we’ve nothing left to lose.
Dawn begins to break, and we fall into the cold.
Ice and snow melt away, revealing days of old.
As seasons change and darkness fades, the fear begins to thaw.
The steady pulse of life slows quickly to a crawl.

Sometimes I find myself sitting by our lake,
Frozen over, holding in my lies and your mistakes.
And I wonder if it’s worth it, when we’re both empty inside,
But what’s the worth of anything when you are not alive?
All I seem to find are the blank remains of trust,
But the falling snow always seems to cover them in dust.

Still we keep on waiting for the light to set us free,
While locked away in snow and ice is where we’ll always be.
Longing for the summer, I pray for help to come.
Longing for the falling rain and brightly burning sun.
The sound of softly drifting snow echoes in my prayers.
And though I have been left behind, I know you will be there.

There’s always another day to face, and I can’t find the strength
To carry on and heal my wounds and run the final length.
