• Purple tinges the scarlet blaze,
The summer's nightly melodies replacing the sun's daze,
The lightning bugs flash their luminous shows,
    Familiarity everybody knows

The mockingbird's innocent songs are long gone,
As the stage of the sky moves gently on,
    Gathering on the placid porch,
Soon the people let ablaze a torch,
As they stand back and watch the grace,
    of a summer dusk's embrace
