-
He died.
You can’t stand life without him.
Thoughts are running through your head.
Knives, guns, rivers, and swords.
Either way you’ll end up dead.
God gave you the gift of life,
And now you take it with a knife?
Hear me human, made from dust.
In me, you must trust.
For I am and angel of the Lord,
Watching you become gored.
Suicides an awful thing,
That’s why you are missing wings.
You did not give up your life for a friend or a wife.
I’m sorry to say he’s not here.
He’s down there with satan, dear.
Make a choice, it’s now or never.
Surely heaven will be better.
Do you love him more than God?
I am sad to say you did nod.
So down, down through the sky,
I never wanted to say goodbye.
I am the one she came here for,
And now she is at hell’s door.
I told myself it’s my choice now,
And so I dove through the clouds.
I’m sorry God, I’m sorry Jesus,
But this choice does please us.
I promised to be with her forever,
And I will break that promise, never.

- Title: The Angel's Choice
- Artist: snowbelle3
- Description: I wrote this poem trying to understand how someone who has died and transformed into an angel feels while watching their loved one make despicable choices on Earth. When they attempted suicide and succeeded, they went to the gates of heaven and faced the angel. They told them that they were down in hell and that they had to make a choice. So the loved one chose the one they died for and the angel followed them down there, because they were the one the other chose, abandoning God.
