Stuck on an Escalator

• Description: I love this title! Cracks me up everytime! As for the poem itself, I will admit that in my opinion, it's not the best thing I've ever written. But I came up with the concept awhile ago, as well as the title, and its been buzzing around in my mind ever since. So I finally got around to putting it into a poem. As always, be brutally honest.

The power's out.
I stand now, halfway up on the escalator;
Halfway from my car in the parking lot,
Halfway to the once-in-a-lifetime sale at
Macys.
It's just my luck, too,
To be stuck on an escalator.
And its the one day I remembered my club card
For the video store.
But, no,
I get to be stuck on the escalator.
Alone.
In a dark mall.
Yep,
Just my luck to be stuck
On an escalator.
I'm starting to wonder
Why someone would even invent an escalator.
Wouldn't a simple staircase
Be sufficed enough?

i like lyrical better in poem but this was an offbeat one...so didnt vote...coz it deseves 4 or 5 and im not sure what to give... smile
