    My heart flutters with joy,

    Chirp goes the square,
    Loud and happy.
    Nothing is heard in my ears

    Beep goes the many wires
    Ever inturrupting the silence.
    I check again, just once more
    Heart pounding, spirits rising.

    A warm voice calling to me
    Begging me to be happy
    Wanting nothing but joy
    Hoping for friendship

    A gift I give,
    The smile I pass on
    Laughter echoes
    Life can't be better.

    Where there is an up, there is a down
    Earth crumbles around me,
    "Let us be friends"
    Silent tears begin to fall

    Nothingness replaces sound
    Deaf have I become
    To the world, to my family
