It takes an overcast night
when the moon is barely visible
for me to notice how much further away
the clouds really are
when I'm looking for stars
to wish you back home.
We could sit on the front steps
and imagine the constellations
were just giving us privacy,
drawing our future
from behind God's curtain.
I'll leave a note in the mailbox
just in case the sky clears
and you stop by early
while I sleep off the feeling
that this moon
will never sink.

- It is rare for me to actually enjoy a free verse, but I undoubtedly love what you have written. It's beautiful.

- Finally, someone who can do free verse. Everyone else seems to think it's a blog with but starting ever sentence on a new line. 5/5

Looks like the real poets finally joined the party.
Something about notes in mailboxes - that's the epitome of romance, as far as I'm concerned. - Report As Spam
